I'm (not yet) half the man I used to be
I've been boring people in real life with my efforts to lose weight, so it's your turn now.

BMI change since the 1st of February: -1.39

I originally hoped to lose another 2 points or so, keep it off for the rest of the year, and then dry and lose another 3-4 points next year. Perhaps I can set my sights a little higher for this year.

I took the money, and ran
    I am redundant today.

A smorgasbord of emotion is running through me - pride in the work I did, excitement as I look forward to the future... but some sadness too. I put my heart into Demon/Thus for over a decade, and I hope that it will be in safe hands with C&W during these turbulent times.

    Bah!
Evil nasty spammers are busy sending out their foul missives with my email address. I am getting lots emails telling me that the message about really exciting ways to make money sadly couldn't be delivered to kawakami@blah.example.com. This is mildly annoying, but it's not terribly hard to filter so I don't get to see it.

What does annoy is when I get a mail that might as well say:

    Hello!

I'm fed up with dealing with my spam problem, so I thought I'd make it your problem instead. If you are a real person please jump through these hoops so I get to see your email.

    Yours,

    A selfish git

    So... should I:

    a) Jump through the hoops and then send them an email telling them I think they're selfish?
    b) Jump through the hoops and then send them an email telling them I think they're a tosser?
    c) Pay for my LJ so I get to do polls properly?
    d) There's no end to spam, so I should stop worrying and enjoy my life

Today, I printed "20", "19", "18", etc, each on a sheet of A4. In a really big font. I stapled them together and stuck them on the wall behind me.

As I left the office - I'm working from home this afternoon - I ripped off the 20, revealing the 19. It's not big. It's not clever. But it will keep me amused.

For one night only, I have suspended my "no drinking in January" rule. Goodness, I'm a lightweight now.

    My wife hates me...
My wife had a meeting today, at one of George Williams gaffs. It seems that the inevitable musical response has created an ear-worm, and I am in trouble.

I can hear her singing it now, despite our best efforts to sound-proof the dog-house.

    Bad Joke
It's a good thing that the race was the weekend they ended summer time in Brazil. It explains why they had to put the glocks back.

WOMAD was fun. Piccies available at my gallery, but I quite like this one:

2 weeks ago I broke my camera taking photos for a photo competition.

This made a perfect excuse to go out and buy a shiny thing, which I promptly took out for a quick play.

A small step up from my last SLR.

My sister mentioned that she's joining a book club. At the first meeting, everyone is supposed to come with a list of 10 books, so that they can discuss which will form the reading list for the next while. Which got me thinking: what would I pick? Something which was a nice meander through SF, perhaps, and I got started with: I'm aiming for good books that cover a range of sub-genres, that I haven't read in ages - or at all. Any recommendations? My list tends towards the old, so I suppose more modern SF would make it a little more rounded.

    Spotted on GrokLaw.

[info]techiebabe says this is funny. And we don't argue with Her, now, do we?

She may find it extra-funny as only the other day I yelled "That goddam paperclip should just FUCK OFF" in her presence. She, of course, has the pussy-cat version because it's cute.
